Poetry & Prose Rounds (PPR) Tuesdays at noon

PPR will meet  in the HSL Lower Level Conference Room (T-223) each Tuesday from noon - 1 pm.

Writing about and through illness can change lives and enrich health care.  This is the murky realm of narrative medicine/health care, the hybrid offspring of medicine and literature.  We will practice close reading of a range of published poems, nonfiction and fiction.  Through a series of guided writing prompts we will write pieces of our lives in the context of illness and health care.  No prior knowledge of narrative medicine or literary critique is required and all writing abilities welcomed.  Participants are encouraged to bring in work-in-progress for group feedback in a supportive environment.

Expectations:  PPR will be structured but informal. You can come to as many of the seminar sessions as your schedule allows, and you are encouraged to bring your lunch (as well as your work-in-progress for feedback). These seminar sessions are greatly enriched by participation across disciplines and fostering of mutual respect.
