Loansome Doc Registration Instructions

For more information on this service, see the Loansome Doc Fact Sheet

  • For UW Affiliates

Loansome Doc enables PubMed users to order documents found in MEDLINE. It is available to users in the U.S. and internationally. A user can order articles from a list of citations retrieved from PubMed by sending requests to a library for the full-text documents. University of Washington students, staff, and faculty should use the instructions below. Separate instructions are available below for Non-UW affiliates, (including UW alumni).

To ensure prompt processing of your document requests, it is crucial that you read the following information completely and follow all instructions to complete the Loansome Doc registration process.

  1. Journal articles from UW Libraries print collection and from other libraries are now delivered to your desktop at no charge.
  2. You must use your UW NetID and give your Department or you will be charged at the Non-UW rate.
  3. The Authorization Code for the University of Washington Health Sciences Libraries is WAUWAS.
  4. UW-affiliates do not need to specify a Max Cost per Article unless you request rush service. Use the Comments to Library field to give special billing information, such as your budget number. If no billing information is given, you will be invoiced monthly for any special services you request. Please consult our price list for details.
  5. Your Loansome Doc requests will be imported into our request management database, ILLiad. You will be able to access your articles through ILLiad by logging in with your UW NetID and password. Note: This login is different than your Loansome Doc login.

  • For Non-UW Affiliates (including UW Alumni)

Loansome Doc enables PubMed users to order multiple documents found in MEDLINE. Non-UW affiliates, in the U.S. and internationally, including UW alumni, should use the instructions below.  Separate instructions are available above for University of Washington students, staff, and faculty.

To ensure prompt processing of your document requests, it is crucial that you read the following information completely and follow all instructions accurately to complete the Loansome Doc registration process:

  1. Fees are associated with ordering. For more information about fees, see the price list. You will be invoiced monthly.
  2. You must identify yourself as a Non-Affiliate.  Use the Comments to Library field to give any billing reference numbers or special notes.
  3. The Authorization Code for the University of Washington Health Sciences Libraries is WAUWAS.
  4. You must select a Max Cost per Article because prices vary depending on availability. We will cancel all requests that are below our minimum rate of $20.00. If we must obtain your article outside the UW Libraries, the charge is $45.00.
  5. Your Loansome Doc requests will be imported into our request management database, ILLiad. You will be sent an email with your ILLiad account login and password which you will use to access the articles you ordered. Note: This login is different than your Loansome Doc login.
