We are excited to announce UW School of Medicine's installation of a new permanent Nobel Laureates display at the Health Sciences Library. This exhibit celebrates groundbreaking achievements in science and medicine by highlighting the remarkable contributions of our School of Medicine's esteemed Nobel Prize recipients.
The display features the replica medal and folio of Dr. Edmond H. Fischer, Nobel Prize co-recipient (Dr. Edwin G. Krebs) in Physiology or Medicine. Dr. Fischer & Dr. Krebs were awarded the Nobel Prize in 1992 for their groundbreaking research in protein phosphorylation, which has had a profound impact on our understanding of cellular processes and disease mechanisms. The display also features Dr. Leland H. Hartwell’s (Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine, 2001) replica medal. Additionally, recent recipient Dr. David Baker (Nobel Prize in Chemistry, 2024), Dr. Linda B. Buck (Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine, 2004) and Dr. E. Donnall Thomas ((Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine, 1990) are honored for their extraordinary accomplishments.
Visit the third floor of Health Sciences Library to explore this inspiring exhibit, which pays tribute to the brilliance and dedication of these distinguished University of Washington Nobel Laureates.
