A Breath of Fresh Air: The Science and Policy Saving Lives from America’s Deadliest Cancer

In the United States, lung cancer is the second most common cancer for men and women and the leading cause of cancer death. UW Thoracic Surgeon and this year's winner of the University Faculty Lecture Award, Dr. Douglas Wood has spent his career working to change that.

You may view his lecture, A Breath of Fresh Air in which he brings awareness to the importance of early detection and screening. And, read his interview in the Faculty & Staff Insider where he discusses why he chose thoracic surgery, his contributions to lung cancer guidelines, and his role in policy advocacy for lung cancer screening.
