Each year, an open group within the UW Health Sciences schools select, from a list of titles nominated by the Health Sciences community, a Common Book that we hope will serve as a platform for health sciences students, staff, and faculty to engage and learn together on a matter of common importance. The selection each year is centered on an issue relevant to all UW Health Sciences students.
This year, we hope that our selection Braiding Sweetgrass: Indigenous Wisdom, Scientific Knowledge, and the Teaching of Plants by Robin Wall Kimmerer will engage the community in exploration of the interconnectedness of our world, through the lens of an Indigenous scientist and spark rich conversations and learning experiences.
